A New Home For Our Brass Bands
March brings an exciting new chapter for our brass bands! Since establishing our groups back in September 2024, we have been rehearsing at Littleborough Cricket Club. Steve, Steph, Ant and the whole team at the Cricket Club have been so supportive, and we can’t thank them enough for allowing us to use the space. It’s been a great venue to rehearse in, but storage issues meant it was time for us to find somewhere new. We’ll still be teaming up with the Cricket Club for performances, fundraisers and the choir will still be based there in Littleborough. The Cricket Club is a real community hub which is home to so many groups, and we’re loving being a part of it!
At the start of January 2025, we embarked on finding a new rehearsal space for our brass bands. After weeks of searching, we finally find our new home - The Flying Horse in Rochdale! The team there were happy to support us, and let us use their function room upstairs for our rehearsals. Lucy and all the staff there have been so helpful getting us settled in, and we really appreciate everything they’ve done so far.
The rehearsal space is working brilliantly for us, and it’s exciting to move into a more central area, so we can welcome even more people to our organisation. The pub itself is a cracking venue, with great beers, live music and delicious affordably priced food. The staff are all so lovely too, and the place has such a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.
The Flying Horse is steeped in history. It first opened in 1691 on Rochdale’s ‘most dangerous street’, but was knocked down and rebuilt in 1923. The venue reopened in 1926, making The Flying Horse the oldest free house in Rochdale. To find out more about the history of The Flyer, follow this link to head to their website.
